LAKELAND/VMSA PARENT/GUARDIAN CODE OF CONDUCT

Lakeland/VMSA Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct

This year as a PARENT / GUARDIAN I agree to…

 1) Remember that my child plays for their enjoyment, not mine.

 2) Teach my child to Honor the Game. I will reinforce fair play, respect for the letter and spirit of the rules, respect for the officials and our opponents.

 3) Never ridicule or yell at my child or his / her teammates for making a mistake or losing a competition.

 4) Turn defeat into victory by emphasizing the value of honest effort, skill improvement and fair play to my child.

 5) Never ridicule or yell at the coaches or officials for making a mistake.

 6) Applaud all good plays for both my child’s team and the opponents.

 7) Let my actions speak louder than words and set a good example of fair play with my behaviour.

 8) Support all efforts to remove violence from children’s sport.

 9) Show my appreciation of volunteer coaches by allowing them to coach my child without interference (i.e. coaching from the sidelines).

10) I agree that Vegreville Minor Soccer will make all decisions on creating even and fair Teams to the best of their ability.

 11) Get recommendations and a note from a physician or physiotherapist before allowing my child to participate following an extended injury (i.e. any injury that keeps them out for greater than 1 week). I understand that the Head Coach needs a copy of this note before my child may resume participation again in practices or games.

 12) Provide feedback regarding the community and district programs. I agree to be honest and fair when providing this feedback.

 13) Resolve conflict by first talking directly to the coach(s) away from the rest of the team. If this does not resolve the conflict, I will schedule a Parent/Coach Meeting with the Vegreville Minor Soccer Association.

 14) Follow the 24-Hour Rule when expressing concerns to any member of the coaching staff, parents on our team, association volunteers or staff. Furthermore, that I will attempt to get both sides of the story before coming to any conclusions associated with the coaching of my child.

 15) I will strive to avoid making negative comments about my child’s coach(s) in front of my child. I understand that this will help to avoid planting seeds in my child’s head that may negatively influence their motivation and overall experience.

I understand that by signing this document I agree to all the items above. Furthermore, that I am responsible for ensuring that other family members adhere to the same standards when attending games or practices.

I further understand that should I violate the Code of Conduct set forth above, I shall be subject to suspension or any other disciplinary action decided by the Vegreville Minor Soccer Executive and/or the Lakeland Executive.
